I usually try to refrain from venting and saying how I truly feel in order to keep up appearances that I am sane lol! However this needs to be said…As I look around at the youth today I get sad not because the world is changing for the worst and they will have to endure it but because we did it to them! A wise person once told me that if you see yourself pointing a finger to blame then you should notice the three pointing back at you. That has never rang more true to me s it did today, I was in the market and a random female with her two daughters just sparked up a conversation with me about how lazy our children are these days and how we used to have so much fun as kids playing ACTUAL games like hopscotch and hide and seek red light green light etc. schools don’t even have recess anymore because the children “seemed uninterested” we’ve got to do better parents! My son held the door for a lady the other day and she seemed shocked….WHY? When I was younger my male cousins and uncles better not have saw a woman especially an older woman needing help and didn’t at least offer. I hear so many people my age and my mom’s age saying how things used to be different and this needs to change that needs to change….so why not change it? I KNOW I’m creating change! My boys are gentleman my girls are ladies! Girls used to not be able to play with a group of boys even if they were her brothers now girls are younger and younger in boys’ faces. Mothers could cook and clean while their children played outside w/o the fear that they would be shot or corrupted by gangs. Dealers and hustlers even respected women and children. I can’t count how many times as a kid if something was going down or about to someone would walk by and warn the mothers to take their kids inside! Now regardless of whose outside they just shoot or what ever else, hustlers would send boys home scared if they tried to do what they were doing but now they target children to be their lackeys because they would do less time I mean really? MEN worked for their family women cooked for their household. People helped each other w/o looking for anything in return and we were a unit! Look at us now, the “Superior race” watches and enjoys us killing each other like lab rats in a horrible experiment. Yet we think we are progressing…in a world of evolution we are going backwards for what? Are we trying to make ourselves extinct are we trying to deplete our existence? What have you done to help your family today? Not just your kids but your FAMILY! I have nieces and nephews godchildren and children that I live everyday for. I think of new ways to make their life better and make their future the one I miss the one that made me feel safe in this world of people that only want us to fail! This is not to put down races or anything like that but we can do better yall! I live in a complex that is 80% (at least) Indian and they are a NEIGHBORHOOD they ban together none of them need if the others have yet we can see our family and friends need and keep it moving why? If it doesn’t hurt you to help what’s your excuse? Its not too late we can still make a change we can still be the dream the Martin Luther King Jr had if we believe….I know my future the future of my kids grand kids and anyone else that I have ever encounter is worth the effort of me rising up and taking a stand. We all stood when Trayvon Martin was shot but who stood when the boy was shot just now or now or now? It’s not others killing our future it’s US we are killing us and it must end NOW it brings me to tears daily watching what we’ve become and for what? What are we gaining being what we are? It used to be if your child was outside cursing and performing an elder would correct them now if that happens the mother comes outside to perform worst because “nobody corrects my child” what is it hurting? Do we want ignorance to take over? Do we want our girls to think that their mind is not NEARLY as important as their looks or our boys to think its lame to get a job when you can make money on the corner w your “friends” all day? WE MUST TAKE A STAND AND DO BETTER! If you don’t think your children deserve better do nothing but if you KNOW that they not only deserve it but are ENTITLED to it then make a change TODAY not tomorrow because that’s not promised. Help us get back to the royalty from which we came, I know I am raising kings and queens are you?
